Water Classification amended at Invertrossachs

E-mail Print PDF

Good news for all kayakers and canoeists who have the skills to get a B1 permit but have been unable to use it at Invertrossachs. Our submission for a relaxation of the classification of waters in the vicinity of the Scout Centre has been agreed by Gilwell and with immediate effect the water has been re-classified as B1. The official definition is; "Loch Venachar, south of a line between NS 573052 and NS 583052 to shore (1st April to 30th September)".

It is in fact the bit of the Loch between two very recognisable features, the headland Tom Eoghainn, 550 metres to the west of the centre, and the shoreline directly below the large house at West Dullater, 450 metres to the east of the centre. It is south of a straight, east-west line between these two points, and gives an area of water of up to 1000 m. long by 180 m at it's widest point where B1 permits will now have validity.

Notices with maps will be displayed on site and marker buoys will be put out in the loch to make everyone aware of the new B1 waters.
