District & Group Role Vacancies - Now Open

2020 have been challenging for all of us on a Scout and personal level with the COVID-19 situation and restrictions. 

This new reality has made all of us re-think the way we provide Scouting activities in the future.

Stirling & Trossachs District Scouts has a few vacancies and we are looking for people that will help us shape and get ready for this new future.

If you feel you are up to the challenge, are enthusiastic and want to work as part of a great team please get in touch!

We are currently looking for:

• District Commissioner
• ADC Cubs (Assistant District Commissioner)
• District Cub Leader
• District Scout Leader
• District Explorer Leader

Invertrossachs now has Stand Up Paddle Boards!

Invertrossachs has been kindly gifted a set of Stand Up Paddle Boards in order to expand what we can offer for Water Activities.

Over the coming months the Water and Invertrossachs groups will be looking at how we can offer training for Leaders and working out pricing for groups to book them. 

This is a great addition to the equipment and opportunities we can offer, and great fun too!

And we are back! We have had two very successful socially distanced groups on the water at Invertrossachs in the last couple of weeks.

88th Scouts joined us for an evening paddle last Friday, and 1st Cubs spent a day out on the water on Saturday.

Both groups did a great job of following our protocols to ensure everyone was kept safe, and had a great time!

Whilst we are now into the colder months you can still book water activities down at Invertrossachs - just book with Carla and email Mark or Charlie.

Whilst Invertrossachs is still closed, the removal of the limit on travelling has allowed Active Support to resume scaled-down workdays at Invertrossachs and aims to get the Centre to a state of readiness by the end of July. Although camping may still be a long way off, the site will be available for day use whenever restrictions allow, and risk assessments both for use of the centre and the operation of water activities are currently being prepared.

Only very occasional visits to check the infrastucture and carry out essential maintence were allowed during lockdown, so the small team from Active Support have their hands full to make the site safe, secure, clean and tidy. Since we had not managed a clean up after the District work day held in mid-March, and the preparation of the site for the new camping season (alas unlikely to happen this year) was incomplete, there is plenty to do.

The 3 campsites have not been touched, and are likely to stay that way for this year, as the grass is knee high and mowing is now impossible - all that is missing is the tumbleweed!

If anyone has to visit Invertrossachs for a particular reason, then please contact Colin Smith to make the arrangements, as it is important that we keep tabs on any visits to the site.
